Big news is around the corner at The Equity.
Later this fall, we will be expanding the paper to 16 pages, up from our current 12. This milestone represents a full doubling of the paper’s size over the past year—and it is all thanks to the incredible support from both readers and advertisers across the Pontiac.
To keep everything easy to navigate, we will be reorganizing the paper into two distinct sections. Section A will hold all your essential local news and regional coverage, while Section B will become the new home for our community features. Chatting with so many of you during the Shawville Fair reminded us just how much you love features like The Way We Were and our weekly crossword, so Section B will give those favourites plenty of room to grow.
We are also launching a brand-new feature that we are especially excited about: Youth Voices of the Pontiac. We are teaming up with local high schools across the region to help students craft multimedia content, ranging from written stories and photography to video and audio. You will get to see their work and unique local perspectives featured regularly right inside the pages of The Equity.
While others in the newspaper industry pull back, we have proven that you can grow both an online audience and a print audience at the same time without sacrificing one for the other.

Plus tard cet automne, nous porterons le nombre de pages du journal à 16, contre 12 actuellement. Cette étape représente un doublement complet de la taille du journal au cours de la dernière année — et tout cela grâce au soutien incroyable de nos lecteurs et annonceurs de partout dans le Pontiac.
Pour faciliter la navigation, nous réorganiserons le journal en deux sections distinctes. La section A contiendra toutes vos nouvelles locales essentielles et la couverture régionale, tandis que la section B deviendra le nouveau foyer de nos dossiers communautaires. En discutant avec bon nombre d’entre vous pendant la foire de Shawville, nous avons été rappelés à quel point vous appréciez des rubriques comme « Tel que nous étions » et nos mots croisés hebdomadaires. La section B leur offrira donc amplement d’espace pour s’épanouir.
Nous lançons également une toute nouvelle rubrique qui nous enthousiasme particulièrement : Youth Voices of the Pontiac. Nous nous associons aux écoles secondaires locales de toute la région pour aider les élèves à créer du contenu multimédia, allant des reportages écrits et de la photographie à la vidéo et à l’audio. Vous pourrez voir leurs travaux et leurs perspectives locales uniques être régulièrement présentés dans les pages de The Equity.
Alors que d’autres dans l’industrie des journaux se replient, nous avons prouvé qu’il est possible de développer à la fois une audience en ligne et une audience imprimée sans sacrifier l’une pour l’autre.
