In light of recent news that provincial voting information mailed out by Élections Québec will appear exclusively in French, we decided to step in for our readers. In this week’s edition of The Equity, you will find the full-page voting guide printed directly in English on page 6—no digital hoops required.
We made this decision with our local community top of mind. Many of our print readers across the Pontiac are older, unilingual, or simply less tech-reliant, and we believe no voter should face unnecessary friction just to participate in a democratic election.
Over the coming weeks, voters will also receive an official notice of entry and a yellow reminder card detailing advance polling options, local candidate rosters, and election day locations. Because these mailouts will also arrive solely in French, The Equity is committed to keeping you informed by bringing those essential details directly to your doorstep in print.
While administrative changes elsewhere create digital barriers for regional communities, we remain dedicated to serving as an accessible, reliable bridge for the Pontiac.
