Calumet Media Launches Event Syndication Across the Pontiac

Ever miss out on a great local event because you simply didn’t hear about it in time? You’re not alone.

Last year, we heard loud and clear from readers of The Equity that they loved hearing community news, but what they really wanted was a heads-up on events they could actually attend. We took that feedback to heart, and we’ve been busy building something to fix just that.

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our new event syndication network, with The Equity serving as the central hub. This week, we welcomed Pontiac Ouest (L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, Chichester, Sheenboro and Waltham) to the group, joining Shawville, Clarendon, Bryson, Fort-Coulonge, and Mansfield-et-Pontefract – that’s now half the municipalities in the MRC Pontiac connected!

How it Works

When an event is published on The Equity’s website (either submitted by a resident or through our own team), it’s automatically syndicated to the respective municipal websites. No more duplicate postings. This network also includes several of our clients, like the Pontiac Community Players, Art Pontiac, and Leslie Park. When they post events on their own sites, those details flow automatically to The Equity, and then out to the relevant municipal sites.

This means less administrative work for organizers and a far wider reach for your local happenings. In a world where social media can feel increasingly fragmented, getting your event details out across multiple trusted local platforms is more important than ever. Plus, every event published online through this system also gets considered for our weekly print edition, ensuring we reach seniors and others who might not be online.

Posting an event online and in print is absolutely free. While we reserve the right to limit print inclusions based on space, the goal is always maximum exposure for community events. We even developed the new software for this syndication and language translation entirely free of charge for all participating municipalities!

Our hope is simple: to encourage everyone to step away from their screens, reconnect with neighbours, and help build an even more vibrant, engaged Pontiac.

Get your events out there, and let’s make sure nobody misses the next great local gathering.

Submit your event online at The Equity‘s website.
